Donations needed to cover Hardacre roof damage

Hardacre fans: We need your help! A late April windstorm caused approximately $28,000 in damage to the historic Hardacre Theater’s roof. The damage included fallen brick from the tallest part of the structure and a parapet wall. Hardacre Theater earns place on National Register

It’s official: the Hardacre Theater is one for the ages. The Hardacre Theater is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, following a lengthy application process. The designation was awarded by the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs and the federal National Parks Service. Hardacre Theater renovation will cost $3.8 million

TIPTON, Iowa—Restoring Tipton’s historic Hardacre Theater will cost approximately $3.8 million, according to the Hardacre Theater Preservation Association, a nonprofit entity that owns the theater. Since purchasing the theater at a cost of $96,100 in February 2014, the HTPA has been working with an Iowa City-based architectural firm to determine the theater’s needs and the costs attached.
